Interface Igor Engraver has unlimited Undo and Redo, which means that you can unwind your changes to a piece back to the very beginning of the piece, even across saves. You can then redo your changes, step by step, to recreate what you just undid. This means that you can experiment freely with different ways to notate a passage, or if you are composing or arranging, you can try out any number of ideas before you make a final decision. Furthermore, Igor Engraver maintains separate undo chains for each open piece, which makes editing even easier. The user interface allows you to edit everything on screen, without entering any special edit modes: just point, click and drag. Easy. Igor Engraver will check for collisions between various notational elements, such as articulations, hairpins and slurs, and automatically position them in such a way that most collisions are avoided. All articulations are automatically stacked in the correct order: no need to fiddle around with anything unless you want to. |

Extensive
use of Control-click (Right-click), Drag & Drop, and Copy & Paste
makes the user interface very straight-forward, even for the novice. Staff lines can be displayed in gray, something which increases legibility enormously, especially at small point sizes. When you spend many hours in front of the computer screen, you will find this a very welcome feature indeed. Things like these add up to an environment that is creatively rewarding to work with. Igor Engraver never gets in your way. |
