Score
Control
With Igor Engraver,
you have complete control over the appearance of your score. However, Igor
Engraver has extensive expert knowledge about how scores and parts should
be formatted for maximum clarity.
When you set up a
piece, Igor Engraver will automatically insert all standard brackets,
braces and grouping symbols. If you want, Igor Engraver can sort your
instruments so that they appear in the correct order. Barlines will be
broken in the correct places, between instrument groups and between certain
instruments, even inside other instruments, such as a multi-part choir.
All scores are not written in English. You decide what language to use:
Igor Engraver names instruments and parts accordingly. You can choose between
English, French, German, Italian, Swedish, and Finnish. Igor Engraver
will set up group names, too, and can even write instrument names rotated. And
they always follow their instrument and adapt automatically to the spacing
of the staves.

Drag &
Drop forms the basis of Igor Engraver's versatile user interface:
just point, click and drag. No need to select special tools for simple
tasks. Even advanced operations are handled this way: to clone an entire
orchestral setup, including scores, parts, musicians and all instruments,
you
simply drag a single symbol to another window.
Transposition
is automatic. Igor Engraver has expert knowledge of over 300 instruments
and their particular transpositional characteristics. Want French Horns
in F to transpose a fourth down in bass clef, but a fifth up in treble
clef? No problem, it's built in. There is also special support for C scores,
including what clef(s) to use for each instrument.
Furthermore, there are many parameters specific for scores or parts, such
as the appearance of instrument names, page format, and so on.
Also, the
clef changes take into account the transposition of layouts and instruments:
a bass clarinet using German notation will have a different set of clefs
in the part, in a transposing score and in a C score.
Important to remember is that with Igor Engraver, there is never any need
to extract any part files. Scores and parts are kept in the same document,
saving you many hours when you need to change something in your score.
